History
As handed over to generation to generation by word of mouth , our origin and history dates back to the days of Brahmanical hegemony in Kerala and Malabar region in perticular.In order to get a general idea of our origin, it is imperative that we examine the socio political history of our land and then conclude where our story (history) fits in. Hence an endeavor is made in the following paragraphs to narrate the major events in history that were responsible for the birth of Edakkad Nambiars or the Randillam Vargam.
Families and Members
The original two famililes were evolved in to nine thavazhis in due course of time. A data base has been created of these families and visiting members may input their family data in the database so that the present and future generations would understand their relations with other members of edakkad nambiars.The database have functions to find out how two individuals are related and the percentage of common genes between two individuals.
Their temple:Oorpazhassi Kavu
Sree Oorpazhassi is a renowned shrine in the Northern Malabar located in Edakkad,a village situated in between Tellicherry and Kannur on the national highway in Kerala. As the name of the village suggests, this temple is located in a "Holy Grove". The word "Achi" in Malayalam means mother and"Ooru" means place or village, and hence the usage "Oorpazhassikavu".
